Glenderaterra is a favourite of both Jenny and Angela's - a steady, medium-length run that packs in stunningly beautiful views without masses of elevation, or being very remote. Easily runnable from Keswick, and featuring plenty of easy running as well as some sections of technical ground to challenge yourself on, and an awesome, flowing descent to finish, Glenderaterra is a classic you'll do again and again.

Begin at the Leisure Centre in Keswick (///drape.smothered.soap) and head out east along the Keswick to Threlkeld trail. This is a tarmac trail with plenty of signage - an easy start to the run!
After just over 3km on the K2T, go through a gate left to a short track which links to a road. Turn left and start climbing quite steeply on the road. Leave it, left, after 400m on a narrow path that descends to cross Glenderaterra Beck on a bridge. Follow the path uphill on the other side for just under 400m to a house.
At the house turn right (on a tarmac drive) and go uphill 150m, then cross the stile ahead of you into a field.
A path goes up through the fields and through woods for about 300m to reach the Blencathra Field Studies Centre. Continue through the centre until reaching a road; turn left and go through a gravel car park onto a track.
You are now at the start of Glenderaterra proper; the track heads up the valley now for 2.6km. Keep going until you've crossed two footbridges. Shortly after the second one go through a gate, then less than 100m later take a left fork onto a narrower, muddier path through bracken. You're now crossing the head of the valley before returning towards Keswick.

After about 500m this path reaches a bigger, stonier one; turn left onto it here to begin heading back south. The views start to open out from here; take your time to enjoy them! Stay on the southbound side of the valley for 1.5km. You'll cross some rocky sections on this leg; don't be afraid to walk them if you want to.

When you reach a gate, go through onto a smoother, wider path; this is traversing around Lonscale Fell. It drops to cross Whit Beck after 1.2km, then climb out again and stay on the path for 700m and through another two gates to arrive at the car park at the top of Latrigg.
Go right, into the car park, then immediately left onto a path that begins descending. Stay on this for over 2km, and at any forks take the right hand option to keep going downhill. Enjoy the descent; it's not very technical and you can safely push your limits!
At the bottom of the hill you'll cross the A66 on a bridge, and shortly arrive at a T-junction with Brundholme Road on the edge of Keswick. Go left here, then right when the road forks 250m later - then just around the corner is the Leisure Centre. The Riverside Cafe at the YHA is just down the road if you're looking to refuel!
